A smooth arrival starts before take-off: accessible documents, a saved accommodation address and transport suited to your group. This guide helps you organise those decisions without imposing a minute-by-minute timetable. Arrival waiting times depend on the flight, passenger numbers and checks, so leave flexibility between landing and your first appointment.

Before travelling: gather the useful information

Save your booking, flight number and full accommodation address. A hotel or riad's commercial name may not explain the destination precisely: add the neighbourhood, a landmark and the telephone number of your host. Keep this information available offline and share it with another member of your party. You can then find it even if your phone battery is low or your connection is not working yet.

Check the entry requirements for your nationality and personal circumstances with the relevant authorities, then confirm the documents your airline requires. A rule described by another traveller does not replace that check. Our historical Border police page contains older information: treat it as context and confirm the requirements applicable when you travel.

Follow the flight and inform whoever is meeting you

The Arrivals page provides the flight arrivals board. Identify your flight by its number and origin rather than by its scheduled time alone. Landing time is not the time you leave the terminal: disembarkation, any required checks and baggage collection still follow. Avoid promising to meet someone immediately after the aircraft lands.

If a relative or driver is collecting you, give them the flight number, your name and a contact they can reach. Agree on how to find each other if you cannot see one another. If plans change, check the airline's information and update your contact. An earlier screenshot of the board does not confirm a new situation, and the time needed to reach the meeting point can vary.

Documents and luggage: keep the essentials accessible

Keep your travel documents together with the information needed for your stay. Carry your phone, a charger and your accommodation's contact details somewhere accessible in your cabin baggage, subject to the applicable carriage rules. Avoid keeping all useful contact information only in a checked suitcase. If that suitcase arrives later, you will still have the information needed to organise your next steps.

When collecting a suitcase, check its label and condition before leaving the area. Many bags look alike. If baggage is missing or appears damaged, find your airline's service or its representative and ask about the process before you leave. Retain baggage references and any documents you receive. This guide cannot set a reporting deadline or guarantee compensation; ask the responsible carrier which procedure applies.

Choose the journey to your accommodation

Our Transport section presents taxis, the shuttle, private transport, car rental and parking. Start with your exact destination, passenger numbers and amount of luggage. A journey to accommodation in the city raises different questions from a stay involving several trips outside Marrakech. Our transport selection guide explains the criteria to compare.

If you have booked a transfer, keep the meeting instructions, waiting conditions and operator's contact details. If you decide after arriving, ask about the conditions and total cost before confirming. Prices, schedules and availability can change. Confirm them with the provider instead of planning your journey around an old estimate. Also check whether your destination can be reached directly by the vehicle or whether a final walk is involved.

Travelling with family or a group

Choose one person to keep booking references and another to check the bags. Count travellers when moving between areas and agree on somewhere to meet if anyone becomes separated. With children, keep what you need for the onward journey in an easy-to-open bag. For a transfer or rental vehicle, ask the provider about the equipment available and obtain confirmation before booking.

If someone needs assistance, contact the airline before travelling to understand the arrangements. Do not assume a ground transport reservation includes assistance inside the airport. Explain the needs separately to the airline and to the provider taking you to your accommodation. Sharing relevant information early makes it easier to check what each provider can offer without leaving essential decisions until arrival.

A checklist to save before departure

  • Flight number, booking and required documents accessible.
  • Full accommodation address and contact saved offline.
  • Transport chosen, or comparison criteria prepared.
  • Meeting point and driver or relative's contact confirmed.
  • Baggage references retained until collection.
  • Flexibility between landing and the first appointment.

Before your return journey, also consult departing flights and our guide to taking a break before a flight. The aim is to keep the right information close at hand and adjust your plans calmly when circumstances change.

Prepare your connection before arrival

Save your accommodation address and meeting point offline. If you are considering an eSIM, check your exact phone model, included services and the plan's activation rule before buying.

Prepare the journey with your group and luggage

A successful journey begins with a clear meeting point and a suitable vehicle. Compare private transfer conditions; if you want to drive, separately check the rental agreement, deposit and rules specific to your itinerary.
