A coffee, some shopping or a quiet moment: plan your break at Marrakech Menara around the formalities you still need to complete. The key distinction is between the public hall and the departure area. Available services differ, and your remaining time runs until you must report to the gate, not until take-off.

Start by checking your departure

Before settling down, check your booking, messages from your airline and departing flights from Marrakech. At the airport, check the screens and staff instructions. A gate or boarding time can change.

There is no single time allowance suitable for every traveller. Start with your airline's instructions, then account for the journey, counter formalities, checks and the walk to the gate. Leave extra flexibility if returning a car, travelling with children or using booked assistance.

Online check-in does not replace all other formalities. Ryanair's page about digital boarding passes now lists Marrakech among Moroccan airports where the pass can be used in the app. Some airline FAQs retain a more general paper-pass instruction for Morocco. Check the instructions for your booking, any baggage drop and any requested document check before finding a table.

Before the checks, choose a break you can interrupt

Still in the public hall? First locate your counter and check whether it is open. Keep documents and luggage close. A coffee may suit the wait, provided you can leave when the formalities begin.

ONDA's café and restaurant directory lists Illy, Mazar and La Table du Marché in the public hall. This helps you plan a stop, but does not guarantee opening or the menu when you visit. Look at displayed prices and ask how long service will take before ordering.

After the checks, locate your gate before eating

Once the necessary formalities are complete, check the display again. If your gate is shown, identify its direction before moving away. If it is not yet shown, choose somewhere from which you can easily check the screens.

ONDA mentions PAUL, Segafredo, Starbucks Coffee, Medina, La Table du Marché, Matsuri and Pomme de Pain in the area beyond customs. Depending on your route through the airport, you may not have access to all of them. Follow your flight's signs and check the options on site.

For a short break, choose a simple order and ask whether you can take it away. For a meal, allow time to pay and reach the gate. If you have an allergy or a particular dietary requirement, ask the establishment directly: a brand name does not guarantee suitable preparation.

Shop without losing track of departure

To plan final purchases, consult our airport shops guide. ONDA's official directory distinguishes public hall shops from those beyond customs, where it lists Maymana, Trésors El Mamoune, Swiss Arabian and Hudson among others.

Set a budget before entering a shop and leave room in your luggage. Check with your airline how to carry an additional shopping bag. For liquids or a connecting itinerary, ask about the applicable conditions before paying. Do not assume an item bought after security will be accepted without further formalities throughout every later stage of the journey.

The Aspire lounge, if your route and access allow it

Marrakech's Aspire lounge is after security and passport control, near gate A3. Priority Pass places it in Terminal 1, in international departures. Do not plan to use it as a waiting space accessible from the public hall or on arrival.

The provider advertises food, drinks and Wi-Fi among its services. Before booking, check flight eligibility, any membership card conditions, guest access, availability and the included duration. The consulted pages advertise a standard visit of up to three hours before scheduled departure. Confirm opening for your date, particularly early in the morning or late in the evening.

Aspire states that its lounges do not broadcast flight announcements. Even when comfortably seated, watch the screens and allow time to reach your gate.

Get connected and keep enough battery

ONDA indicates a Wi-Fi network at Marrakech Menara. Ask the information point which network to use and follow displayed instructions. Do not rely on an immediate connection to retrieve an important booking at the last moment.

Before leaving your accommodation, save useful information offline and charge your phone. Keep your cable accessible. If working while you wait, choose a task you can interrupt quickly and set an alarm to check your flight again.

With children or booked assistance

With children, alternate a short walk, a toilet visit and a quiet activity. Bring a book or game that works without a connection. Ask staff where to find the facilities you need instead of relying on an unconfirmed play area or nursery. For baby food and a pushchair, consult your airline's instructions before travelling.

For passengers with reduced mobility, ONDA mentions ramps, dedicated lifts and assistance staff. Arrange assistance with your airline in advance. On departure day, confirm the meeting point and how assistance will proceed before settling in a café or changing areas.

Plan transport and manage a longer wait

A relaxed break begins before the airport. Consult the transport options for Marrakech Menara and confirm the time and precise collection point. From a riad, check whether the vehicle can reach the entrance or whether you need to walk to an accessible meeting point. Allow separately for returning a rental car.

If a delay is announced, ask the airline whether reporting times remain unchanged. Do not automatically turn that delay into free time in the city. Before considering leaving, confirm whether exit and return are possible, which formalities remain and your new reporting time.

Just before going to the gate

- Check the flight number, destination and gate on the display. - Put away purchases and keep required documents accessible. - Collect your phone, cable and belongings around your seat. - Reach the gate at the time required by your airline, even if take-off still seems distant.

Information checked on 1 October 2026. Businesses, opening times and access conditions can change. Check the airport's, provider's and airline's instructions on the day of travel.

Check lounge access conditions

If you are considering a lounge break before your flight, check its location, the access applicable to your departure and conditions with the operator. Official opening hours may differ between sources: no fixed time slot or guaranteed access is stated here.
