Travel insurance for Morocco
Prepare your cover before travelling
Take time to check how you are covered for your stay in Morocco. Identify the benefits, exclusions and useful steps for your circumstances before choosing a policy.
Check the essentialsBefore a weekend in Marrakech or a longer trip around Morocco, gather your insurance terms, payment card benefit guides and travel dates. Work out who to contact and which costs may be covered before you need help.
Plan how medical costs would be paid in Morocco
Official Morocco travel advice recommends checking cover for medical treatment and repatriation. France Diplomatie notes that a hospital may request payment before discharge. Ask your insurer how an advance or direct settlement works, and which treatment requires approval.
Your checklist before departure
Record each answer and the relevant page in your policy. A marketing label such as “premium” does not confirm a particular benefit.
1. Travellers, destination and duration
Does the policy include Morocco, transit countries and every travel date? Is each adult and child insured? Do your country of residence, age and trip length meet the eligibility rules? Check the maximum duration of a single trip.
2. Treatment and hospital care
What is the medical limit and the excess you would pay? Are consultations, emergencies, hospital stays and medical transport included? How should you disclose a pre-existing condition or current treatment? Request confirmation for your own circumstances.
3. Assistance and repatriation
Which number can you call from Morocco, during which hours and in which language? Who decides on and arranges repatriation? Is support for an accompanying child or relative included, and what happens if you need to return early?
4. Cancellation and cutting a trip short
Which reasons are accepted and what evidence is required? When does cover start? Compare the limit with non-refundable flight, riad and excursion costs. Check curtailment of a trip that has already started separately from cancellation before departure.
5. Baggage and valuables
Does cover include loss, theft, damage and delayed delivery? What is the limit per item, especially for a phone or camera? Request the evidence checklist, including receipts and any carrier or police report required for your situation.
6. Activities and payment card benefits
Describe planned activities precisely: quad biking, an Atlas hike or another excursion. Ask whether extra cover is needed. For insurance linked to a payment card, check who is insured, which purchases must be paid with that card and the policy limits.
A practical message to send your insurer
Keep these on your phone, available offline
- Insurance certificate, policy number, terms and the insurer's confirmation.
- Assistance number in international format and details of the insured travellers.
- Tickets, booking confirmations and receipts needed for a claim.
If something goes wrong during your trip
In an emergency, seek the medical help you need first. Contact assistance as soon as possible afterwards and follow the policy instructions for expenses and claims. Keep receipts, reports and correspondence with your case number. Ask for the exact claim deadline instead of assuming every policy uses the same one.
Choose cover for your circumstances
There is currently no partner insurance policy available to buy on this page. Use the checklist to compare an offer with your existing cover and ask the insurer directly for answers. Eligibility and benefits need confirmation for your country of residence and your trip.
