Do you still need to find a printer before a Ryanair flight from Marrakech? As of 1 October 2026, the airline's dedicated page says passengers departing from Marrakech can use their digital boarding pass in the Ryanair app. It also lists Fez, Agadir, Tangier, Nador and Oujda. The essential step remains online check-in, followed by checking the instructions displayed for your flight. Official Ryanair digital boarding pass page
However, the airline's pages contain conflicting information. Here is how to understand it without confusing a mobile pass, check-in and document verification.
Why does some advice still say a paper pass is required?
The help-centre article entitled “What if I’m flying from Morocco?” still says that, after checking in online, passengers departing from Morocco must collect a printed pass at the airport. It presents this rule for flights from 12 November 2025. Official article mentioning paper collection
The dedicated digital boarding pass page now specifies an exception naming six airports, including Marrakech. We use that local clarification to explain the current situation. We do not know the exact date Ryanair changed the list, and the discrepancy was still visible when we checked.
Before departure, therefore, check the app and the messages attached to your booking. If an individual instruction tells you to visit the desk, follow it. A general article cannot establish that your booking is ready for boarding. If a message is unclear, contact official Ryanair support early enough to obtain an answer.
First step: complete online check-in
Buying a ticket and checking in are separate steps. Finding your booking does not prove check-in is complete. Check every passenger, every journey and the status shown at the end of the process.
Ryanair says check-in can open up to 60 days before departure with a pre-reserved seat, subject to the conditions in its FAQ. With random seat allocation, it opens 24 hours before the flight; online check-in closes two hours before departure. Official check-in times
Build this step into your holiday return plans. If you are going on an excursion the day before, check in as soon as your window allows, with your documents to hand. Do not wait until you are in the vehicle to discover a name error, a document requiring verification or difficulty accessing the booking.
Mobile pass: prepare your phone before leaving your accommodation
After checking in, open the pass in the Ryanair app and make sure it shows the correct airport, date and passenger. The airline explains that, once check-in is complete, the pass is available offline in its app. A permanent mobile connection is therefore unnecessary simply to display it. How the digital pass works
Take a few precautions nevertheless: charge your phone, check that you can find the pass quickly and avoid a major update at the last minute. If one device holds several travellers' documents, organise how to display them in turn without holding up the queue.
Do not post the pass on social media or share it with a stranger: it contains travel information. To help someone close to you, use a private channel and share only what they need. A souvenir photograph can wait until the ticket details are concealed.
When must you still go to the desk?
Acceptance of a mobile pass does not remove the need to drop off checked baggage. Nor does it remove document verification requested in your booking. Ryanair provides for manual checks when certain travel-document checks fail or are unavailable online. Airline travel-document instructions
Read messages in full, particularly if your pass has a restriction. A code displayed on screen is insufficient to conclude that no further step is required. Keep the original documents required for your destination; a boarding pass does not replace them.
If you need to visit the desk, do so before heading towards the checks. Do not plan to resolve a document problem at the gate without an explicit instruction from the airline.
Watch the specific deadline for Morocco
Ryanair's FAQ says check-in desks at Moroccan airports close 60 minutes before the scheduled departure time, because of local procedures. This Morocco-specific information must be distinguished from the general 40-minute rule still appearing in some paragraphs. Official FAQ with the Morocco exception
The airline also announces a general airport check-in and bag-drop closure at 60 minutes from 10 November 2026. That network-wide change does not mean travellers in Marrakech can wait until 40 minutes before their flight until then. Official announcement of the 10 November change
As a purely illustrative example, for a scheduled 16:00 departure, online check-in closing two hours earlier means 14:00; the Moroccan desk closing one hour earlier means 15:00. These are deadlines, not arrival targets. You still need time to complete the subsequent steps and reach the gate according to your flight's instructions.
A flat battery or no smartphone
If your phone runs out of battery before security when you have already checked in online, Ryanair says a pass can be issued free of charge at the airport. Official answer about a flat battery
The help centre also provides a desk solution for people without a smartphone who have completed online check-in. Arriving without having checked in, however, may incur charges. Do not confuse help displaying a pass with the airport check-in service. Digital boarding pass FAQs
If your device fails, approach staff promptly with your documents and booking reference. The announced free service guarantees neither a queue-free process nor permission to miss a deadline.
Plan your transfer and keep the right priority
Organise your journey from your accommodation with baggage and any desk formalities in mind. Our Marrakech airport transport guide helps compare the options. Confirm the pickup point, especially if part of the journey from your riad is on foot.
Before leaving the city, check Ryanair's messages and the departure information. At the airport, check the gate on the screens. A mobile pass makes displaying your ticket easier; your priority remains arriving with check-in completed, valid documents and enough time for the process actually required.
Prepare your connection before arrival
Save your accommodation address and meeting point offline. If you are considering an eSIM, check your exact phone model, included services and the plan's activation rule before buying.
